Berlin: 18-year-old gets into drunken chase with police

An 18-year-old driver without a license was involved in a police chase in Berlin -Schmargendorf. A plainclothes patrol noticed him on the A100 at night when he overtook their vehicle at excessive speed, the Berlin police said. The young man left the motorway at Kurfürstendamm, ignored several stop signs and sped through a 30 km/h zone.
Meanwhile, he ignored the police officers' requests to stop. Instead, he accelerated and drove on sidewalks, it was reported.
Breathalyzer test shows a value of 1.7 per milleAfter the officers briefly lost sight of the car, they found it locked and parked on Salzbrunner Strasse. They arrested the 18-year-old, who according to the police was in a bush nearby. He was released after a blood sample was taken.
According to reports, a breathalyzer test showed that the young man had a blood alcohol level of 1.7 per mille. The police are now investigating him on suspicion of participating in an illegal car race and driving without a license while under the influence of intoxicating substances.
