Arson attacks in Berlin-Marzahn: Extremists claim responsibility for acts of sabotage against Tesla suppliers. The perpetrators want to hit the megafactory in Grünheide.
After arson attacks on construction sites and railway signal cables in Berlin-Marzahn, left-wing extremists have claimed responsibility for the attacks. A letter of confession was published on the relevant internet platform Indymedia, in which the authors explain that they acted in protest against the Tesla factory in nearby Brandenburg.
The text states that fires were deliberately set on construction cranes and cable shafts on Tuesday night. The targets are a construction company that is allegedly working with Tesla , as well as Deutsche Bahn , which wants to build a new freight station near the Tesla factory.
The police confirmed that the letter of claiming responsibility was known and was currently being investigated, a spokeswoman said. On Tuesday, the police had already reported several fires and said that they were suspected of being arson by extremists.
The attacks caused significant disruptions to rail traffic. Long-distance passenger and freight traffic was temporarily disrupted. However, the fires were extinguished.
According to the letter claiming responsibility, two construction cranes in Berlin-Marzahn were rendered unusable by the arson attacks. In addition, the perpetrators deliberately wanted to cause signal disruptions and delays in freight traffic, especially in transport to nearby cement plants.
