Donald Trump: New EU basic tariff does not apply to cars and steel

The announced 30 percent tariff will not apply to cars, steel, and aluminum. Currently, the US imposes a tariff of 25 percent on cars and car parts imported from the EU, and 50 percent on steel and aluminum imports.
On Saturday, Trump published a letter to EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on his Truth Social platform. In it, he announced a blanket tariff on all product imports from the European Union, effective August 1. In the event of countermeasures, Trump threatened further tariff increases but also offered to negotiate.
