New meeting between Russia and the USA in Istanbul

Diplomats from Russia and the United States will meet for the second time tomorrow, announced Sergei Lavrov, accusing Europe of inciting unrest in Ukraine.
High-ranking diplomats from Russia and the United States will meet in Istanbul on Thursday to discuss the resumption of normal operations at the embassies of both countries. This was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov . "Such a meeting will take place tomorrow in Istanbul and I think that the results will show how quickly and effectively we can proceed," he told journalists in Doha on Wednesday.
Lavrov also rejected Donald Trump's claim that Russia is positive about the possibility of deploying European peacekeepers in Ukraine. Such an approach would aim to further escalate the conflict, he stressed, and reiterated that freezing the war in Ukraine along the contact line is not an option for Russia.
At the same time, Lavrov accused Europe of undermining peace efforts and encouraging the continuation of the war. "When the political balance of power in Ukraine changes, as was evident during the vote at the UN, Europe immediately tries to undermine this tendency, announcing new large-scale military aid packages for Kyiv, inciting the country to continue military actions and declaring, as Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen did, that in this situation peace is worse for Ukraine than war," Lavrov continued.
He referred, among other things, to the resolution for the territorial integrity of Ukraine and against Russia's war of aggression , which the UN General Assembly voted for on the third anniversary of the Russian invasion. On Monday, 93 states voted for a corresponding, non-binding draft text from Ukraine and several allies, including many European states. 18 states, including the USA, voted against, and 65 abstained.
Last Tuesday, Washington and Moscow agreed to negotiate to resolve their differences and bring the war in Ukraine to a rapid end at the first meeting at this level since the start of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine three years ago. Representatives of Ukraine and the EU were not invited.
