The man who once stormed the charts with the Söhne Mannheims will be performing live again in December. And that's no small feat! Rumors have been rife, interest has been huge, and now it's official: Cologne will be the setting for his return.
And who would have thought it? Comedian Oliver Pocher, who usually doesn't mince his words and likes to dish it out, is speaking out. After a performance in Rostock, Pocher addressed his fans via Instagram and shared his thoughts on Naidoo's comeback.
The 47-year-old is enthusiastic about the singer's return. He openly expressed his joy at the announcement of the concerts in Cologne. For Pocher, this is a clear sign that Xavier Naidoo belongs back on stage. He sees it as an important step.
Of course, Pocher didn't hide Naidoo's turbulent times. He spoke of a "very disturbing phase" the singer went through. But his stance is clear: He supports the musician's return. This is an exciting turnaround, as Pocher had tried to force Naidoo's rehabilitation last year, but failed.
For those who may have forgotten or are new to the topic: Things had gone quiet around Xavier Naidoo. Very quiet, in fact. After accusations of anti-Semitism and racism, appearances with so-called Reich Citizens, the spread of QAnon conspiracy theories, and controversial statements about the coronavirus pandemic, his image was severely damaged.
Naidoo later admitted to having become entangled in conspiracy theories. He published a video in which he expressed remorse and stated that he had said and done things he now regrets. Nevertheless, two incitement proceedings are still pending against him at the Mannheim Regional Court. These involve content of an anti-Semitic nature allegedly disseminated via Telegram. His lawyers vehemently deny these allegations.
But all the scandals and accusations don't seem to be dampening interest in his music! The Mannheim native's comeback is causing a sensation. The first announced concert in Cologne on December 16th sold out in no time, with 15,000 tickets sold. Demand was so huge that the organizers promptly announced a second show for December 17th.
Both performances are titled "Bei meiner Seele" (At My Soul) and will take place in the massive Lanxess Arena. These are Naidoo's first concerts in six years! A clear sign that his fan base hasn't forgotten him despite everything and is eagerly awaiting his return. This will definitely be a December that will be talked about for a long time to come!
