Poem for the Berliner Zeitung by Uwe Tellkamp: “The State Theater”
The writer Uwe Tellkamp has written an exclusive poem for the Berliner Zeitung on his 80th birthday – a modern German moral portrait in 17 chapters.
"Berlin is reviving!" This was the headline of the Berliner Zeitung on May 21, 1945. It was the first edition of the Berliner Zeitung to be published between the destruction and the awakening in East Berlin. Now the Berliner Zeitung is celebrating its 80th anniversary. To mark the occasion, a special edition of the Berliner Zeitung is being published dedicated to the topic of awakening.
Part of it is a poem by Uwe Tellkamp, one of Germany's most important contemporary writers. Uwe Tellkamp wrote a series of poems for the Berliner Zeitung editorial team to mark his 80th birthday. You can read the text here.
