|The group has long coordinated its airlines' long-haul flights. Now, it also plans to better coordinate its European connections. Lufthansa also aims to save money.
When Carsten Spohr has a few minutes to spare between appointments at Lufthansa headquarters, he can watch the planes taxiing across the apron at Frankfurt Airport outside his window. Jets from his group's various airlines, including Swiss, Brussels Airlines, and Austrian, are en route to one of the three runways, heading for Zurich, Brussels, or Vienna.
