DHL: Price increase for parcel shipping abroad and Pluspäckchen

Bonn. The postal service DHL is increasing its prices for international parcel shipping. Starting in July, the Bonn-based logistics company announced that shipping a parcel weighing up to two kilograms to EU countries with online franking will cost €6.99, 50 cents more than before. A parcel weighing up to five kilograms will increase by one euro to €20.49 if franked at a branch. DHL cites higher costs as the reason for the new prices.
Anyone who purchases the parcel stamp online in advance will pay €17.49 for an EU parcel weighing up to five kilograms – a one-euro premium over the current online price. Certain types of shipments abroad – both within the EU and to other regions of the world – will also become slightly more expensive, while others will not. The price increase for shipments to Russia was particularly significant.
Domestic DHL parcel shipping will remain largely the same, with only two specialty products becoming more expensive: The Pluspäckchen (Plus Package), which also includes the packaging box, will cost €8.19 in the future, €1.20 more than before. Shipping a roll, which is used for transporting posters, for example, will cost €3.99, double the current price (€1.99).
