From Hypovereinsbank: Mercer brings in experts to advise institutional clients

Mercer has hired Markus Schmidt. The private markets and sustainable investment expert spent 13 years at Hypovereinsbank, where he was responsible for, among other things, asset allocation for pension plans.

Markus Schmidt joined Mercer at the beginning of July. As a Principal, he focuses on advising institutional clients (corporates) in Germany. He also supports the other areas of Financial Institutions, Insurance, and Pension Funds. His particular focus is on private markets and sustainable investments.
Schmidt continues to volunteer at the HVB Private Death FundSchmidt joins from Hypovereinsbank (Unicredit), where he was responsible for asset allocation for pension plans for the past 13 years and supported projects in the areas of LDI, sustainability, and primarily private markets strategies. In 2024, Schmidt was appointed to the Board of Management of HVB Privatsterbekasse. He will continue this position on a voluntary basis as a non-executive member of the Board of Directors responsible for capital investments.
Previously, Schmidt worked at Dresdner Bank and Commerzbank as a securities advisor, in corporate treasury sales and multi-asset portfolio management, among other roles.
