IAA 2025 in Munich: Climate activists block road – police intervene

Munich. Shortly before the opening of the IAA Mobility auto show, several climate activists blocked a street in Munich. Some of them had stuck themselves to the asphalt, a police spokesperson said. Emergency services are now working to remove them from the asphalt. An angle grinder is being used on one woman. The other activists have already moved away from the street.
The activists criticize the auto show as a "climate-damaging lobby event." They claimed to have chosen Landshuter Allee, a main access road to the city center, for the roadblock because it houses a building where a car manufacturer markets particularly powerful vehicles.
The roadblock caused only minor disruption because traffic was diverted, the police spokesperson said. Police are now investigating the activists for charges including coercion in traffic.
