Foo Fighters: Dave Grohl's band kicks out drummer Josh Freese

The Foo Fighters are looking for a new drummer. At least, that's what their apparently departing drummer Josh Freese wrote on Instagram.
Band shake-up at the Foo Fighters: After only two years, the men around frontman Dave Grohl (56) have apparently decided to part ways with their drummer Josh Freese (52). Freese, who replaced regular drummer Taylor Hawkins, who passed away in 2022, announced this in a post on his official Instagram account : "The Foo Fighters called me Monday night and informed me that they have decided 'to go in a different direction with their drummer.' No reasons were given."
While he doesn't harbor any grudges against Grohl and co., he goes on to say: "Regardless [...] I've enjoyed the last two years with them, both on and offstage, and I support whatever they think is best for the band." At the same time, however, he can't and won't hide the fact that he's "shocked and disappointed" by the manner of the split. After all, this is the first time in his "40-year career as a professional drummer that a band has kicked me out."
As a freelance drummer, he's used to changing bands frequently, so no one needs to worry about him, he insists. Instead, he jokes at the end of his post that people should look forward to his "Top 10 Possible Reasons Why Josh Was Kicked From The Foo Fighters" list.
The search for a replacement must not take longIndeed, Freese has played drums in several notorious bands, from Nine Inch Nails to Guns N' Roses to A Perfect Circle. He joined the Foo Fighters as a full-time member ahead of their upcoming May 2023 tour, replacing Hawkins, who was found dead in a Colombian hotel room in 2022.
The Foo Fighters don't have much time to present a replacement. According to Variety, their next scheduled performance is on October 4th at a motor race, the Singapore Grand Prix.
