VOGUE in July and August 2025: German peculiarities in focus

VOGUE in July and August 2025: German peculiarities in focus

VOGUE in July and August 2025: These are the topics of the new issue.

I notice again and again in my daily work that German peculiarities are a reality. The international VOGUE editorial teams work closely together, which makes local differences very obvious: the clean aesthetic, the direct manner, the punctuality, the efficiency – all typically Teutonic. A few months ago, when I was talking with a Japanese colleague about how "we Germans" completely fit the cliché here and there, I realized how little real sense of community actually exists here. Everyone lives in their own bubbles, and the divides between them are deep. This is how the idea of dedicating this year's summer issue to something unifying was born. Because when it comes to fashion (for example, purism, color preferences, untranslatable German words, the "Tatort" TV series, or even a ping-pong table), we're all pretty close.

The July/August issue is always special for us because it also comes in a version with a special cover, the so-called Collector's Issue, this year with metallic foil. Whether you're holding this version or the one with the regular cover, the content is identical. For the first time in over 15 years, a man can be seen alone: Bill Kaulitz . We photographed him in Loitsche, his home village in Saxony-Anhalt, and on the nearby Kaliberg, a huge hill in the local salt mine. Rarely has a photo shoot been more fun, which is of course also due to Bill Kaulitz's cheerful and positive nature.

Impressions from the cover shoot with Bill Kaulitz.
