80 Berliners we celebrate
Berlin has many people who are doing great things despite the city's challenges. The Berliner Zeitung honors 80 Berliners on the occasion of its anniversary.
“Berlin is reviving!” That was the headline in the Berliner Zeitung on May 21, 1945. It was the first edition of the Berliner Zeitung to be published between destruction and new beginnings in East Berlin. Now the Berliner Zeitung is celebrating its 80th birthday. To mark the occasion, a special edition of the Berliner Zeitung dedicated to this new beginning will be published on Saturday (May 24, 2025). In it, the editorial team pays tribute to 80 special Berliners who make the city one of the greatest places in the world. There are thousands of Berliners who keep the city running every day: in the hospital, at the fire station, at the checkout, in the supermarket. At this point, an explicit thank you to all those for whom we didn't have room in this list of 80 special Berliners, but whose achievements deserve no less mention. If Berlin wants to be on the move, the city cannot do without these bright minds. A big thank you to all the heroes of our city. The editorial team.
