$60 million fighter jet falls from US aircraft carrier into the sea and sinks

A fighter jet worth $60 million fell from an aircraft carrier into the Red Sea, the U.S. Navy said, citing loss of control of the aircraft.
A US fighter jet crashed into the sea from an aircraft carrier in the Red Sea on Monday. The F/A-18E multi-role aircraft was on the hangar deck of the USS Harry S. Truman, towed by an aircraft tug, when the tug's crew lost control of the aircraft. Both the jet and the aircraft tug fell overboard.
All crew members involved in the incident were evacuated to safety, and only one sailor sustained minor injuries. A second US official told CNN that the aircraft sank. According to the Navy, a single F/A-18 fighter jet costs more than $60 million.
For months, US forces have been attacking targets of the pro-Iranian Houthi militia from two aircraft carriers in the Red Sea in an effort to curb their ability to attack merchant ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
