Federal Reserve: Donald Trump apparently looking for successor to Jerome Powell

Trump has recently sharply criticized the current chairman of the Federal Reserve several times, insulted him, and vehemently demanded an interest rate cut. Since last December, the key interest rate in the US has remained unchanged between 4.25 percent and 4.50 percent. The central bank last left the key interest rate in this range in the middle of this month.
The newspaper further reports that Trump has former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh and National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett in mind as candidates. Trump may also nominate his Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent (62) as a possible successor, according to the newspaper. Other possible candidates include former World Bank President David Malpass and Fed Governor Christopher Waller , the report adds.
