Braunlage Police Station: Motorcycle accident with one serious injury. Andreasberg. While taking a left turn, the driver veered off the road to the right, presumably due to a driver error and excessive speed for the road conditions, and crashed into the ditch. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital in the southern Harz region by the Christoph 37 rescue helicopter. The Yamaha motorcycle was declared a total loss, amounting to approximately €2,000. State Road 519 was completely closed for the duration of the rescue and accident investigation. Due to day-trip traffic and existing road closures, a significant backup occurred in both directions.
