In April 2025, accommodation establishments in Germany recorded 41.0 million overnight stays by domestic and foreign guests.

According to preliminary results released by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Wednesday, this was 11.0 percent more than in April 2024. The significant increase compared to the same month last year can be explained, at least in part, by the late timing of the Easter holidays in 2025. For the same reason, a noticeable decline in overnight stays (-8.1 percent compared to March 2024) was observed in March 2025. The number of overnight stays by domestic guests increased by 12.4 percent to 34.4 million in April 2025 compared to the same month last year.

The number of overnight stays by guests from abroad increased significantly less than in the same month last year, by 4.1 percent to 6.6 million. In the first four months of 2025, accommodation establishments recorded a total of 125.6 million overnight stays, roughly the same number as in the same period of the record year 2024. The number of overnight stays by domestic guests increased by 0.1 percent to 104.4 million compared to January to April 2024, while the number of overnight stays by foreign guests fell by 0.7 percent to 21.2 million, according to statisticians.
