The President of the European Commission has already received the Charlemagne Prize for her commitment to European unification. Now she is due to receive another award.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has been honored as Politician of the Year by the magazine "Politik & Kommunikation." She is "an exceptional leader" who is "leading Europe confidently and effectively through a phase of geopolitical uncertainty with skill, determination, and vision," the magazine and co-organizing Quadriga University in Berlin announced.

The award ceremony will take place this Monday in the Tipi at the Chancellery in Berlin. More than 400 guests from politics, the media, and business are expected. The prize honors individuals and projects that have made a significant contribution to society. The laudatory speech for von der Leyen will be delivered by Belgian strategy consultant, think tanker, and author Marc De Vos. The Commission President had already received the International Charlemagne Prize in Aachen on Thursday.

The magazine "Politik & Kommunikation" and Quadriga University present the Politics Award annually. On Monday, they will also honor former German President Joachim Gauck for his lifetime achievements. The new Federal Minister of Construction, Verena Hubertz (SPD), will be honored as "Rising Star of the Year."
