It is a picture of devastation: a car is stuck in the roof of a barn.

In a spectacular accident in Bohmte, Lower Saxony, a car crashed into the roof of a barn and became lodged there. A seven-year-old boy was seriously injured, possibly life-threateningly, according to a police spokesperson on Sunday night. According to the report, the car left a road in the Osnabrück district, crashed through two hedges, and struck the child.

The vehicle was then thrown into the air and crashed into the barn at a height of about three meters, the spokesperson continued. "It made a loud bang," and shortly afterward, a witness said, she saw the car stuck in its roof. The resident said the seven-year-old's mother was screaming after the incident.

According to police, there were five people in the car, including three children aged 11, 12, and 13. All occupants were slightly injured, while the 43-year-old female passenger was seriously injured. The cause of the accident is still unclear. However, the spokesperson said they can rule out alcohol as a factor.
