Ukrainian President Zelenskyy plans to speak with the Russian leader in Istanbul on Thursday. But will the Kremlin chief even attend? The Europeans are demanding a longer ceasefire and threatening Moscow with sanctions, possibly even without the US.

Despite Russia 's ongoing war of aggression, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is prepared to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Istanbul on Thursday, even without a prior ceasefire. "I will wait for Putin in Turkey on Thursday. In person. I hope the Russians won't look for excuses this time," Zelensky declared, apparently yielding to pressure from US President Donald Trump .

Ukrainians can only watch as Trump hands their country over to Putin. No wonder refugees like Hanna Lakoma now want to stay in Germany. How is she coping with all the lies, the uncertainty, the anger?
