Mutual attacks in Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine have again resulted in deaths and injuries on both sides. According to Ukrainian sources, two people were killed and dozens injured in a Russian glide-bomb attack on Dobropillia near the front line. Russia reported two deaths overnight following Ukrainian drone attacks in western Russia, as well as the downing of several drones near the capital. In Ukraine, attention is turning today to the parliament in Kyiv: There, a vote on the new Prime Minister, Yulia Svyrydenko, and her cabinet is expected.

The military governor of the Donetsk region, Vadym Filashkin, reported that a 500-kilogram bomb was dropped on the busy city center of Dobropillya. Citing Filashkin, The Kyiv Independent reported that a shopping center in the heart of the city was targeted. Dozens of people were injured. Numerous shops and hundreds of homes were damaged.

Shortly after the attack on Platform X, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote of “horrific, stupid Russian terror” and the “attempt to kill as many people as possible.”

The front line between Russian and Ukrainian troops runs only about 15 kilometers from the city limits. Before the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, almost 30,000 people lived in the city.

Ukrainian media also reported a drone attack with injuries in the south in the city of Nikopol.

Russia reported massive drone attacks by Ukraine this evening. A woman and a man were killed in the western Russian border region of Belgorod, the state news agency Tass reported, citing the region's governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov. He spoke of injuries and damaged houses and also shared a video of a Russian interceptor drone fending off a Ukrainian drone.

In the western Russian city of Voronezh, three minors were injured when debris from previously launched drones hit a multi-story building, Tass reported, citing Governor Alexander Gusev. According to the agency, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported on Telegram that three drones approaching the capital were repelled overnight.

According to information from the Russian Defense Ministry this evening, dozens of drones were intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk and Lipetsk regions.

In its defense against the Russian invasion, Ukraine is also using long-range drones against its Russian hinterland. However, the damage and casualties are disproportionate to the destruction Moscow has caused in its neighboring country.

In Kyiv, parliament will vote today on the confirmation of the new Prime Minister, Yulia Svyrydenko, and her cabinet. Before that, the former deputy prime minister must introduce her new ministers to the Verkhovna Rada.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, who was dismissed on Wednesday, is set to assume the position of Defense Minister, a crucial role in the war with Russia. Outgoing Minister Rustem Umyerov is to become Ambassador to the United States. President Zelenskyy has the right to nominate the Defense and Foreign Ministers.

Zelenskyy tasked Svyrydenko with forming a new government on Monday. According to the constitution, the proposal would have formally had to come first from a parliamentary majority. Shmyhal had held the post of prime minister since March 2020 – long before the Russian invasion in February 2022.
