Service sales have recently stagnated. According to preliminary results from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), turnover in the services sector in Germany (excluding financial and insurance services) in April 2025 was at the same level as in March 2025, both in real terms (adjusted for price effects) and in nominal terms (not adjusted for price effects), after calendar and seasonally adjusted adjustment. Compared with April 2024 of the previous year, calendar and seasonally adjusted turnover increased by 0.3 percent in real terms and by 2.6 percent in nominal terms. The largest real revenue growth in April 2025 compared to the previous month was recorded in real estate and housing, with an increase of 1.0 percent, followed by transport and storage and other economic services (e.g., leasing of movable property and labor placement), each with an increase of 0.3 percent. In contrast, real revenue in the information and communication sector and in the provision of professional, scientific, and technical services fell by 0.7 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively, according to the Federal Office.
