South Korea: A woman resists dictator Kim Jong-un

|Choi Min-kyung fled North Korea, was deported by China, and then tortured in her homeland. She is now suing the regime in Pyongyang.
There is a kind of team photo from last Friday, when defector Choi Min-kyung sued North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The independent non-profit organization Database Center for Human Rights in North Korea (NKDB), which is supporting the case, provided it. It shows Choi and three of her five lawyers in front of the Central District Court in the South Korean capital, Seoul. Choi Min-kyung is holding an envelope. Inside is probably the criminal complaint and the civil lawsuit for the equivalent of just under 31,000 euros in damages against Kim and other officials of the regime that allegedly once tormented her. She is a small woman, 53 years old, with medium-length hair, glasses, and a white blouse. Unprepossessing, one might say. But her serious face radiates a determination that is difficult to ignore.
