War between Israel and Iran: Putin clearly does not take sides

Iran is an important ally for Russia, but despite the Israeli airstrikes, the Kremlin chief remains reserved. His country also benefits from the escalation in the Middle East, in oil prices, and in the war against Ukraine – as long as a line is not crossed.

When Israel unexpectedly attacked targets in Iran on Friday, someone called both sides that same day: Vladimir Putin spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Iranian President Massoud Peseschkian. The Kremlin left open the order in which they spoke.
