1. Bundesliga: Report: 1. FC Köln committees clear the way for Kwasniok

The former Paderborn coach is increasingly coming into focus at 1. FC Köln. The club's governing bodies have now reportedly given the green light for his signing.
The top management of 1. FC Köln are said to have voted in favor of Lukas Kwasniok in the coaching question, according to pay-TV broadcaster Sky. According to the report, the members of the Joint Committee voted in favor of a transfer of the former Paderborn football coach after a meeting with the 43-year-old on Sunday evening. Negotiations between the newly promoted Bundesliga team and Kwasniok's management are expected to lead to a written agreement soon, according to reports.
A few days ago, "Sport Bild" reported that Kwasniok was the favorite for Cologne. According to the report, Kwasniok and FC sporting director Thomas Kessler had "intensive discussions" in which the coach was said to have convinced the management. Candidates such as Urs Fischer, Christian Eichner (Karlsruher SC), and Magdeburg coach Christian Titz were also previously considered for the job in Cologne-Müngersdorf.
Kwasniok was actually considering a break, but apparently received several inquiries. He explained that he no longer wanted to play in the second division. A Bundesliga location in Cologne appeals to the former Paderborn player. However, the newly promoted club would have to pay a transfer fee for Kwasniok, as he has opted out of his current contract with Paderborn. A sum of two million euros is being speculated.
Cologne hadn't met with their two-game promotion coach, Friedhelm Funkel. The 71-year-old had voluntarily declined another contract, although he initially wasn't averse to it.
