The redesigned Club World Cup will bring together the best club teams from all continents in 2025. After the conclusion of the national and international competitions, the FIFA tournament will fill the summer gap.

In the group stage draw in December 2024, German representatives Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund were drawn against both challenging and manageable opponents. Both teams successfully completed their groups and comfortably qualified for the final round. How far their path in the tournament will lead remains to be seen.
A total of 32 teams participated in the preliminary round in eight groups. FC Bayern Munich competed in Group B against Auckland City FC, Boca Juniors, and Benfica Lisbon. Borussia Dortmund played in Group F against Fluminense, Ulsan HD FC, and Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup offers football fans in Germany several options to watch the matches live. DAZN will stream all 63 matches of the tournament for free. All you need is a DAZN account to access the broadcasts.

With the relaunch of the Club World Cup starting in 2025, FIFA is opening a new chapter in international club football. For the first time, 32 teams will participate – a format based on the structure of the World Cup. The goal is to create more diversity and sporting competition across all continents.
The previous editions of the Club World Cup—held annually between 2005 and 2023—have now been replaced by the new tournament. The FIFA Intercontinental Cup, which continues the old annual format in a slimmed-down form, has been held in parallel since 2024.
