DFB women celebrate at European Championship dress rehearsal against Austria

One month before the European Championship in Switzerland, the German women's soccer team is performing brilliantly. Sydney Lohmann and Selina Cerci, in particular, made the most of their opportunities in Vienna. Austria conceded six goals in the first half against the German women's team.
0:1 Lohmann (1st), 0:2 Schüller (9th), 0:3 Cerci (26th), 0:4 Bühl (31st), 0:5 Lohmann (39th), 0:6 Freigang (43rd)
Austria: El Sherif - Wienroither, Georgieva (46. Wenger), Kirchberger, Hanshaw - Zadrazil, Feiersinger (46. Schasching), Plattner (46. Purtscheller) - Höbinger (74. Hillebrand), Hickelsberger, Pinther (46. Purtscheller)
Germany: Berger - Gwinn (46. Kleinherne), Minge, Knaak (46. Doorsoun), Kett - Senß (57. Nüsken), Lohmann - Cerci, Freigang, Bühl (46. Wamser) - Schüller (63. Hoffmann)
All you need to know about the match: The German women's soccer team celebrated a goal fest in their dress rehearsal for the European Championship. Coach Christian Wück's team stunned the overwhelmed Austrian team with a 6-0 (6-0) victory in Vienna. Four days after their 4-0 win against the Netherlands in Bremen, the German women's team got off to a lightning start: They took the lead after just 14 seconds thanks to a goal from Sydney Lohmann – and then continued to storm onward.
The FC Bayern midfielder recommended herself for the European Championships in Switzerland from July 2 to 27 with another goal (39th minute). In front of just 5,150 spectators at the Franz Horr Stadium, Lea Schüller (9th minute), Selina Cerci (26th), Klara Bühl (31st), and Laura Freigang (43rd) also scored for the Olympic bronze medalists.

Since the German national team had already qualified early for the Nations League Final Four in the fall, Wück used the match to experiment with personnel. "The players who are coming in now are about showing themselves and proving themselves. We need the full squad," he told ARD.
As announced, the 51-year-old made four changes to his starting eleven: Frankfurt's playmaker began in place of Linda Dallmann, who has been so impressive recently. Her Bayern colleague, Lohmann, replaced Sjoeke Nüsken in midfield. Munich's Franziska Kett played at left-back, and Hoffenheim's Cerci filled in with great energy on the right wing for Jule Brand.
The Austrians, led by FC Bayern captain Sarah Zadrazil, had missed out on European Championship participation – and were immediately humiliated by their opponents. After Lohmann's 1-0 goal, Schüller headed home Bühl's shot, but goalkeeper Mariella El Sherif could only parry it. It was the 52nd goal in the Munich native's 75th international match.
Attack after attack rolled toward Austria's goal, even though the German women initially wobbled a few times at the back. Cerci then capitalized on a cross from the eye-catching Bühl to make it 3-0, before the left winger herself fired home a low shot to make it 4-0. Lohmann and then Freigang celebrated again before the break.
Wück made three more substitutions in the second half. The pressure from the 2022 European Championship runners-up hardly eased. However, Austria retreated far back to avoid conceding a double-digit scoreline.
The national coach will name his 23-man squad on June 12, before the team begins its preseason in Herzogenaurach on June 19. It remains to be seen whether Bayern star Lena Oberdorf will remain in the squad. The 23-year-old hasn't played a single game since tearing her cruciate ligament almost a year ago.
Striker Cora Zicai, who left due to muscular problems, is also doubtful for Switzerland. The first match of the European Championship is against Poland on July 4. The eight-time European champions' other group opponents are Denmark and Sweden.
