Florian Wirtz reacts to rumors about shirt number demand

Florian Wirtz's move to Liverpool FC will likely not be a problem, at least because of his shirt number: The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has denied reports that he is demanding the number 10 at the English champions. "Who says I want the number 10? I respect players. Don't believe everything you read," the 22-year-old wrote on Instagram on Tuesday evening.
Wirtz has worn the number 10 at Leverkusen for two years, but at the Reds, the legendary number is occupied by Argentinian World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister. Previously, the number 10 at Liverpool belonged to Sadio Mané, Philippe Coutinho, and club legend Michael Owen, among others.
However, even without details about his shirt number, Wirtz's move to the British club isn't yet complete. Transfer negotiations between Leverkusen and Liverpool are apparently currently in the final stages.
