Klopp reveals: This is why he no longer goes to the BVB stadium

Berlin. Coach Jürgen Klopp left Borussia Dortmund and Mainz 05 as a legend and fan favorite, and now he avoids certain encounters with supporters of his former clubs. The reason: his role as Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull, a company that is controversial for many football traditionalists. "So far, no one has said to me: 'Hey, you did a great job there.' But it's also clear that I wouldn't necessarily go to the stadium in Mainz or Dortmund," Klopp said in an interview with "Welt am Sonntag."
"But not because I don't want to go there, but because I don't want to put people in a situation where one person might say, 'What does that bum want here?' and the other replies, 'But that's Kloppo.' That's unnecessary; I want to avoid that," explained the 58-year-old.
He doesn't hold the criticism against anyone. People can criticize him as much as they want, Klopp said. "I found the idea of Red Bull too exciting to say: I'm not doing that because it wouldn't go over well with my former clubs."
Klopp has been working for the beverage company since January. Previously, as coach of Liverpool FC, he won the Champions League and Premier League, among other titles. With Borussia Dortmund, he won the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal twice, and he also celebrated major successes at FSV Mainz 05, including promotion to the Bundesliga and qualification for the European Cup.
