Leverkusen signs Liverpool's Quansah

As a replacement for Jonathan Tah: Bayer Leverkusen has signed U21 European champion Jarell Quansah from Liverpool FC.
The 22-year-old signed a contract with the German football runner-up until June 30, 2030. Quansah is expected to help fill the gap left by international player Jonathan Tah's move to FC Bayern Munich.
"With Jarell, our defense gains significant dynamism, pace, and toughness in duels, and he's another very important building block for the Werkself of the future," said Leverkusen's sporting director Simon Rolfes in a club statement. Quansah, who will wear the number 4 shirt in Leverkusen, was quoted as saying: "It's a great task and challenge for me to become part of Leverkusen's current upswing."
One of the most expensive signings in the club's historyAccording to media reports, Quansah is expected to cost the Bundesliga club around €30 million in transfer fees. This would make the Englishman one of the most expensive signings in the club's history. Quansah was part of the youth national team, defeating Germany in the European Championship final in Slovakia on Saturday (June 28).
For Liverpool, who already signed Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer 04 this summer, Quansah has made 30 Premier League appearances. He has made four Champions League appearances for the Reds.
