Meniscus tear - Gladbach without Hack for several weeks

Meniscus tear - Gladbach without Hack for several weeks

Borussia Mönchengladbach will be without a regular player for an extended period: Robin Hack is out.

The 27-year-old star player has torn the medial meniscus in his right knee and will undergo surgery on Saturday, the Bundesliga club announced. Hack will not be available to the team in the "coming weeks," it was stated.

"Robin is a fighter," said Borussia sporting director Roland Virkus, according to a club statement. "He's already looking forward again, and we will support him as best we can during his recovery." Hack started all four competitive matches this season and scored two of Gladbach's three goals in the DFB Cup against Delmenhorst. He was also one of the top performers last season.

Reyna as a possible replacement

His absence further increases the attacking woes of the team, which is winless in ten games across the season, after top scorer Tim Kleindienst has been out since May following knee surgery. New signing Giovanni Reyna could move to Hack's left wing position in Sunday's clash with Bayer Leverkusen (5:30 p.m.).
