PSG's record in European competitions since the Qatar takeover in 2011
Fourteen years after its takeover by the Qatari investor group "Qatar Sports Investments," Paris St. Germain has won the Champions League for the first time. The road to this point has been tough.

Paris Saint-Germain regularly won the French championship and cup. But the original plan, which the Qatari investor group "Qatar Sports Investments" had planned from the outset with its takeover of the club in 2011, simply didn't work out – until May 31, 2025.
After many disappointments and horrendous transfer spending, PSG won the Champions League title for the first time on Saturday in Munich at the 13th attempt, a title for which they hadn't even qualified in the first year after the takeover. It wasn't until the 2019/20 coronavirus season, under Thomas Tuchel, that the capital club skipped the quarterfinals for the first time ever, losing to FC Bayern in the final. The most bitter defeat, however, was arguably the 6-1 defeat in the round of 16 at FC Barcelona in 2016/17 – after a 4-0 win in the first leg. PSG's record at a glance:
