The Belgians, who finished second in Group B with four points behind Italy, who hadn't dropped a point, started the match extremely bravely but failed to capitalize. And so it was the French, who finished first in Group A with seven points (ahead of the Portuguese, who were level on points), in which Germany finished third, who struck first: Camara fired a powerful shot into the bottom right corner from 20 meters (42').
However, the 1-0 for France was not the half-time score, as Belgium struck shortly before the break: After a handball by Camara, there was a penalty, which Fernandez coolly converted into the bottom right corner (45.+2).
At halftime, France coach Lionel Rouxel evidently chose exactly the right words, as his team came out of the locker room very well. In the 50th minute, Himbert found Matondo on the left side of the penalty area, who fired home the top left corner. The French kept at it and scored twice: Matondo's cross found N'Guessan, who nodded in from close range (54th).
Now, of course, it was the Belgians' turn. Coach Bob Browaeys' team also tried hard and threw everything forward. The reward came in the 79th minute, when Wins fired a free kick from 20 meters into the bottom left corner of the goal. France's goalkeeper Joudren looked anything but good in this scene. The final phase was exciting, but France held on to their narrow lead and celebrated their place in the final.
In the final on Sunday in Tirana, France will now face either Italy or Portugal.
