Wimbledon: Belinda Bencic is in the semifinals – only the second Swiss woman to do so

Swiss Belinda Bencic makes it to the Wimbledon semifinals.

(sda) Belinda Bencic is in the semifinals at Wimbledon for the first time. The 28-year-old from Eastern Switzerland beat world number 7 Mirra Andreyeva of Russia 7-6, 7-6 and will face Iga Swiatek on Thursday.

Bencic (WTA 35) became only the second Swiss woman after Martina Hingis to reach the last four of the grass-court classic. She won the two tiebreaks 7:3 and 7:2.

Bencic reached her only Grand Slam semifinal so far at the US Open in 2019.
