Wimbledon: Viktorija Golubic eliminated in the first round

(sda) Viktorija Golubic (WTA 82) had hoped for more at her favorite tournament. Four years ago, she achieved her best Grand Slam result at Wimbledon by qualifying for the quarterfinals. Now the 32-year-old from Zurich was left with little chance against American Ann Li (WTA 65), losing 3-6, 6-4, 1-6.

Li dictated the game almost at will and dominated the points. She served well, exerted enormous pressure, but also made many errors. In the end, however, her balance was enough against a Golubic who played a bit too passively and never found her rhythm.
The Swiss started well and quickly took a 2-0 lead. However, Li then resolutely took control and didn't let the second set deter her. The former Wimbledon junior finalist clearly dominated again in the third set.
