'A real end, not a ceasefire': Donald Trump's proposal for the Iran-Israel conflict
US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he wants "a real end" to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, not just a ceasefire.

"I'm not looking for a ceasefire, we're looking for something better than a ceasefire ," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, shortly before returning to the United States from a G7 summit in Canada, which he left early.
The president emphasized that he wants Iran to "completely concede" and find "a real end, not a ceasefire," to the conflict, which entered its fifth day on Tuesday.
Trump again warned Iran against the idea of possibly attacking US bases or troops in the Middle East. "We will respond strongly, without hesitation," he warned.
The US leader left the G7 summit in Canada a day earlier than planned, amid direct confrontation between his ally Israel and Iran.

The Hebrew state, an unofficial atomic power, launched an unprecedented military campaign against military, energy, and nuclear targets in Iran on June 13 with the stated goal of preventing the Islamic Republic, its regional archrival, from acquiring an atomic bomb.
Iran has responded by attacking Israeli territory with missiles.
Trump has repeatedly refused to reveal whether the United States will become involved militarily to assist Israel in its ongoing campaign in Iran, and the White House has said that US forces in the Middle East remain on the defensive.
However, Trump told reporters on Air Force One that he will be in the White House Situation Room this Tuesday morning.
The Situation Room—as it's known in the United States—is the space where presidents meet with their National Security Council during times of geopolitical tension or when they need to oversee major military operations.

Trump also said, in a subsequent post on his Truth Social network, that he has not "approached Iran for 'peace talks' of any kind."
"If they want to talk, they know how to find me. They should have accepted the deal that was on the table -- many lives would have been saved!!!"
On Monday, Trump said his hasty departure from the G7 summit had "nothing to do" with a possible ceasefire between Israel and Iran, adding that French President Emmanuel Macron was "wrong" to suggest such an option.

"He has no idea why I'm returning to Washington, but in any case, it has nothing to do with a ceasefire. It's something much bigger than that," the US president said.
Macron previously said that "if the United States can achieve a ceasefire, that would be a very good thing."
