Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke out against the attack on presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay , saying, "This despicable violence undermines democracy everywhere."
The senior Israeli official joined the world's outcry over the violent incident, which has left the senator in "critical condition," according to the latest medical report.

In a brief statement, the senior official said he was "shocked" to learn of the "attempted assassination of Miguel Uribe."

Voices of rejection of the attack against Miguel Uribe Turbay
Several international leaders have expressed their condemnation and outrage over the attack on Miguel Uribe Turbay, including the European Union ambassador to Colombia, Gilles Bertrand; U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio; Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia; and others.
"The European Union's absolute condemnation and full solidarity with Miguel Uribe Turbay in the face of the extremely serious attack he suffered today. Violence is a mortal enemy of democracy. We call for action against the masterminds and for strengthening the protection of the pre-candidates," said the European Union's ambassador to Colombia, Gilles Bertrand.
He was joined by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who, via social media platform X, said " in the strongest possible terms the attempted assassination" and considered it "a direct threat to democracy and the result of violent leftist rhetoric coming from the highest levels of the Colombian government."

Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia expressed his "absolute rejection of the political attack against Miguel Uribe. When violence enters politics, the very possibility of building a future based on differences is undermined."
In Europe, one of the leaders to speak out was Italian Vice President and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani. The official said: " The Italian government strongly condemns this attack, which constitutes a new threat to the political life of the country. We stand with Senator Uribe, his family, and the Colombian people." He added: "We remain committed to Colombia in its quest to consolidate its path toward democracy and security."

What is known about the candidate's health status?
On the morning of June 9, the Santa Fe Foundation released a new medical report on the senator's health, stating that Uribe Turbay remains "in critical condition and has had little response to medical interventions and treatments ."
