Chaos in Toluca: Rains paralyze the capital of the State of Mexico

Chaos in Toluca: Rains paralyze the capital of the State of Mexico

The Toluca Valley is experiencing a day of chaos due to intense rains and hailstorms that have caused severe flooding, collapsed main roads such as Paseo Tollocan, and damaged homes and farmland, prompting the mobilization of Civil Protection forces.

Toluca, Edomex.- The capital of the State of Mexico and its surrounding areas are in a critical situation after being hit by a storm that brought torrential rains and heavy hail. The consequences have been immediate and severe: flooding that has paralyzed urban life and affected the assets of the people of the State of Mexico.

The hardest-hit road was Paseo Tollocan, one of the region's most important arteries, which experienced severe flooding at its intersection with Paseo Colón, leaving dozens of motorists stranded and causing a traffic jam.

The response of the State of Mexico government, headed by Delfina Gómez, has been deployed on two fronts to address the various problems generated by the same climate phenomenon.

In the urban area:

* Civil Protection has deployed an emergency operation in Toluca, carrying out cleanup work and using pumping equipment (vactores) to remove standing water from the streets and provide assistance to homes affected by hail and flooding.

* Governor Delfina Gómez personally supervised the preventive works on the Chalco Collector, a key infrastructure project to prevent flooding in the densely populated eastern part of the state.

In rural areas:

* The government announced the activation of the Agroclimatic Disaster Relief Program. Through this program, assistance of up to 12,000 pesos will be provided to agricultural producers in municipalities such as Santiago Tianguistenco, whose crops were damaged by the rains.

This dual strategy, which addresses both the immediate urban emergency and economic losses in the agricultural sector, reflects the complexity of governing a state with such diverse realities.

Meanwhile, the weather forecast is not encouraging and warns of continued heavy rains in the region. Authorities are therefore continuing to urge the public to exercise extreme caution and stay informed through official channels.
