Clavijo states that the Canary Islands Coalition will propose that Sánchez submit to a vote of confidence.

The President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo , has stated that his party, Coalición Canaria, will propose this Wednesday in the Congress of Deputies that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, submit to a vote of no confidence.

"The question is this: Does the government have the necessary support to govern, approve a budget, and address the main problems facing citizens? Today, there's only one way to answer that question: a question of trust," he said this Monday in an interview with 'La Vanguardia,' reported by Europa Press.

Asked about his party's voting direction in the event of a vote of confidence, he conditioned it on, in his words, the government's plans and commitments, and pointed out that the "current crisis" of the PSOE is not limited solely to the party but is also a government crisis, literally.

He stated that his group is asking the Executive for a roadmap detailing how the legislature will end, with what objectives and what budget: "If it's not possible to set these objectives, we must give the people their say."

He has articulated that, in his opinion, the impression cannot spread in society that those in power are "more focused" on ensuring their personal survival than on solving citizens' problems.

Asked about his opinion on the Amnesty Law, he asserted that, although the Canary Islands Coalition voted against the law in parliament, the party accepts the Constitutional Court's ruling on the constitutionality of the text.
