Driver causes spectacular accident in Saltillo

A serious traffic accident occurred Thursday afternoon in the La Palmilla neighborhood after the driver of a Ford pickup truck, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, made an uncontrolled U-turn, causing a violent collision with a Mazda vehicle carrying several minors.
The accident occurred around 6:00 p.m. when the driver identified as responsible was entering Los Pastores Boulevard from Ramón Flores Peña Street. While heading north, just a few meters from the intersection, he made a U-turn without yielding, colliding head-on with the Mazda vehicle , which was traveling northbound.
Due to the impact, both vehicles remained on the road, with the damaged vehicle sustaining more damage. Witnesses immediately called 911. Municipal Police officers arrived on the scene as first responders.

Three minors were traveling inside the Mazda vehicle. An 11-year-old girl suffered the most serious injuries , so Red Cross paramedics decided to immediately transport her to a private hospital for medical treatment.
Minutes later, a second ambulance, belonging to the Ministry of Health, arrived to assess the other two children, approximately 4 and 5 years old, who were also taken to a private hospital for examination.
Municipal Traffic Officers were informed of the accident and arrested the driver of the Ford pickup truck , who was taken into custody. He is expected to undergo appropriate testing to determine whether he was driving while intoxicated.
The area was cordoned off while the vehicles were removed, and they were taken to a tow yard. The case was referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office for Traffic Affairs , where the corresponding legal responsibilities will be determined.
