Felipe Calderón asks not to prosecute Gullit Peña for drunk driving.

Corner Bar - Former President Felipe Calderón has come out in defense of Carlos “Gullit” Peña, after the former soccer player was arrested for drunk driving.

The incident reportedly occurred in the city of León, where the former player was pulled over by a traffic officer, who, upon seeing him pass over the potholes without flinching, assumed he was intoxicated with alcohol... or some breaded fish tacos.

Calderón and Gullit could be a luxury forward line.

After asking him about the teams he had played for and Peña replied, "América," the officer confirmed his condition and proceeded to arrest him, angering several people, including the former Mexican president.

"He only had 2.0 grams of alcohol in his blood. That means 98% of his blood was perfectly fine," argued Don Felipón, while suspiciously shaking a Gatorade.

This isn't the first time Peña has found himself in a similar situation. Even during his footballing days, he was involved in several incidents involving Jägermeister and generously poured rum.

"So what? He didn't crash!" Calderón exclaimed emphatically when reporters asked him if it was right to be driving after a party.

Although Gullit's legal status is unknown, Calderón himself is expected to go to the place where he is being held to plead for his release. It's rumored he might even drive there... but accompanied by a designated driver: a Rappi motorcyclist who agreed to trade him for a selfie.

In case you missed it: Florinda Meza came out to clarify why she called Chespirito's children "defects," and it would have been better if she hadn't said anything at all.
