Genaro García Luna's dream comes true: living in the mountains of Colorado.

Hotel to cure tuberculosis.- Genaro García Luna fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams: to retire in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
This, after being transferred to a maximum-security federal prison in Florence, Colorado, which boasts beautiful views during this time of year and where the former Secretary of Public Safety always wanted to live... although not exactly under these conditions.

“ I always wanted a little cabin in the mountains, away from the noise, surrounded by peace and constant surveillance… and look at me now! ” declared the former official of Felipe Calderón as he was loaded into a van with small windows and minimalist bars.
The prison complex, known as ADX Florence, boasts enviable panoramic views, as well as an ideal climate for arthritis, tuberculosis, and heartbreak. Hence, there are several boutique hotels and retirement homes in the surrounding area, albeit with less armed security.
Don Genaro's story is already inspiring millions of Mexicans, who have proven that it is possible to achieve dreams, no matter how difficult (and illegal) they may seem.
“So, if I want to retire in Lake Tahoe one day, is that possible?” one hopeful citizen asked rhetorically, seeing the former super cop’s success story.

Meanwhile, García Luna's lawyers are considering whether to request that their client be allowed out, at least once a month, arguing that the former official has "a profound love for nature... and an equally profound fear of prolonged confinement." This could be taken into account for an escorted visit to the Stanley Hotel, which inspired the novel The Shining , a work that, by the way, many now say fits him perfectly.
