Hamas is 'satisfied' with guarantees for a truce with Israel and will soon respond: What will happen to the aid?

The Palestinian group Hamas expressed its satisfaction Friday with the guarantees proposed in the latest ceasefire proposal with Israel in Gaza and indicated that after conducting "highly responsible consultations," it will provide a response to mediators Egypt and Qatar, sources close to the movement told Efe .

According to the sources, the proposal they will respond to "includes guarantees" that neither side will return to fighting "as long as negotiations continue" and that these will begin during an initial 60-day truce aimed at "a permanent ceasefire and a complete and gradual withdrawal from Gaza."
Meanwhile, an Egyptian security source familiar with the negotiations told Efe that the proposal, which was conveyed to Hamas leaders and is now under discussion, is based on one presented to both sides by US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff in early June, which Israel accepted.
However, according to the same source, who remained anonymous given the sensitivity of the issue, Hamas has set conditions for its acceptance.
The Egyptian source also indicated that the new proposal contains no substantial changes, only minor modifications compared to those included in Witkoff's latest proposal, published last month.
According to assurances Hamas considers satisfactory, US President Donald Trump will announce the agreement if both parties agree, with the understanding that he will also be "the promoter and guarantor of the agreement's implementation."

Broadly speaking, the proposal includes a 60-day truce, under which Hamas will release half of the Israeli hostages still alive in Gaza, as well as the bodies of some 30 hostages, in exchange for the release of several Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
Once the agreement enters into force, aid to Gaza will be intensified, although the proposal does not specify the number or type of aid trucks, Egyptian sources told Efe, noting that this point is one of the proposal's biggest obstacles, as Hamas considers the current aid delivery mechanism to be "defective."
Yesterday, Israeli government spokesman David Mencer asserted that the withdrawal of his country's troops from Gaza "is not an option," and that he will not allow Hamas to "regroup, rebuild, and attack again."
" We will not allow a jihadist terrorist organization to establish itself just a few meters from our homes , expressing its intention to destroy us at every opportunity and actively working to achieve it," he stated.
Trump announced last Tuesday that Israel had accepted a 60-day ceasefire proposal, and expressed hope that Hamas would also agree to the agreement.

A 60-day truce is the basic principle of the proposal put forward months ago by the White House envoy for the Middle East, which Israel has supported from the outset but Hamas has rejected on previous occasions because it does not contemplate an Israeli withdrawal from the territory or an end to its offensive.
Since the start of the war, at least 57,000 Gazans have been killed and more than 132,000 injured by Israeli attacks, according to the Ministry of Health of the Hamas government in Gaza.
