Latest news on the Ukraine-Russia war, live | Vance says the US is working to arrange a meeting between Trump, Putin, and Zelensky.

Vance says the US is working to arrange a meeting between Trump, Putin, and Zelensky.

As the US and Russia prepare for Friday's meeting between their presidents, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, US Vice President JD Vance stated this Sunday that the US administration is working to also arrange a three-way meeting, not necessarily on Friday, that would include the Ukrainian leader, Volodymyr Zelensky. In an interview on the ultra-conservative Fox News program Sunday Morning Futures , Vance stated that he doesn't think it would be a good idea for Putin and Zelensky to meet before the meeting between Trump and the Russian leader. But he suggested that a three-way meeting could take place and that the US wants to facilitate such a meeting.

“One of the main obstacles is that Vladimir Putin has said he would not sit down with Zelensky, the leader of Ukraine, and President Trump needs to change that,” he said. He added that the White House is working “on scheduling and arranging things so these three leaders can sit down and discuss ending the conflict.”

For the time being, the US has ruled out any Ukrainian participation in Alaska on Friday and last week spoke of a "territory swap" as part of an agreement.

On Sunday, in a social media post, Zelensky wrote that "Ukraine is ready to work as productively as possible with all partners for a real peace. Issues concerning Ukraine must be decided with Ukraine's participation." He also criticized Russia for doing "everything possible to prolong hostilities" and trying to gain the best possible position for "future attacks."
