The president of the Valencian Regional Government, Carlos Mazón , has initiated contact with three associations of those affected by the DANA virus that struck the region last October. The goal is to hold a direct meeting with their representatives, according to sources from these citizen platforms.
The entities with which Mazón has established communication are the Association of Victims of the DANA 29 October, the Association of Mortal Victims of the DANA 29-O and the Association of Victims of the DANA of L'Horta Sud . Their spokespersons have intensified their institutional visibility in recent weeks: this Thursday they met with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez , at the Government Delegation in Valencia, and on May 13 they traveled to Brussels to meet with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen , and the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.
Despite the Consell's willingness to listen to them, the associations complain that they have been excluded from the list of those present at the commission of inquiry into the DANA (National Assembly of Valencian People) in the Valencian Parliament. This contradiction, in their opinion, delegitimizes the parliamentary process. "It makes no sense that the president wants to receive us while we are prevented from participating in the body that represents the Valencian people," they criticize.
