Preparations for road safety operation for Lala Marathon are being reviewed

During the seventh weekly security meeting, Mayor Román Alberto Cepeda González reviewed with the corresponding authorities the preparations for the road safety operation and protection of the thousands of participants and observers of the XXXVI edition of the Lala International Marathon, an event that will take place this Sunday, March 2, 2025.
The mayor said that the municipality of Torreón is ready to receive the 4,500 competitors and visiting families and urged citizens to follow the recommendations of the authorities so that this great sporting event takes place in an orderly manner. The finish line of the Marathon will be in the Venustiano Carranza Forest of this city.
On the other hand, Cepeda González recognized the work and coordination of the corporations of the three levels of government , assuring that this is reflected in the decrease in high-impact crime rates. In addition, he announced that there will soon be a new delivery of patrol cars, but this time for the Traffic and Roads Department.
He added that during his administration, security actions will be strengthened with more vehicles and more highly trained agents who have passed the control and confidence tests. He also recognized the different corporations because, as a result of their joint work, the rates of high-impact robberies have been reduced.
CRIME INCIDENCECommissioner César Antonio Perales Esparza, director of the Torreón Police, reported that from February 18 to 24, the crime rate in the area of vehicle theft with violence decreased, with three events; as well as robbery of a commercial premises with violence, with three events.
The Municipal Police made 94 arrests that were referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office and 55 to the Qualifying Judge. Meanwhile, the Torreón Reaction Group made 13 arrests related to the possession of narcotics.
For her part, Martha Esther Rodríguez Romero, general director of the Municipal Justice Center, reported on the signing of the safekeeping of breathalyzers that were donated by the Sixth Health Jurisdiction as part of the program: Prevention of accidents, injuries and Road Safety.
In addition, he met with Francisco Javier Urquizo and Ernesto A. Chapa, officials of the Civic Court of the municipality of Francisco I Madero, who are seeking training on the operation and procedures of the Civic Justice model implemented in Torreón.
The official also announced that agreements with various associations committed to the prevention and treatment of violence and addictions in this city continue.
Luis Alberto Morales Cortés, Director General of Roads and Urban Mobility, reported that the members of the Roads Advisory Council participated as observers in the operation on the Raúl López Sánchez ring road and the old road to San Pedro, on the El Campesino bridge, in order to prioritize the passage of cyclists and pedestrians.
In another action, the Road Auditors groups installed vertical signs to speed up traffic in conflict areas with the aim of preventing vehicle accidents.
The director reported a clean balance in the Road Safety Operation implemented for the Santos match against Cruz Azul, with the attendance of 14,020 fans, as well as in the match against Atlas, with an attendance of 11,655 fans.
In his speech, Jorge Luis Juárez Llanas, director of Civil Protection and Firefighters of Torreón, He mentioned that this week 187 services were attended by the different stations ; highlights the decrease in reports of house fires, with five events.
