Rodolfo Chikilicuatre talks about his nightmare of participating in Eurovision: "I weighed 55 kg."

The celebration of a new edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, with Melody finishing second to last, has brought back to the forefront one of the most surreal moments for Spain in this globally renowned competition: Rodolfo Chikilicuatre's participation in 2008 in Belgrade.
Comedian David Fernández, who played Rodolfo Chikilicuatre, was the main guest this Sunday on the program 'Anatomy of...' with Mamen Mendizábal, a program in which the entire story that led this actor to be seen by millions of people around the world with his song 'Baila el chiki chiki' was reconstructed.
An initiative that began on an Andreu Buenafuente show and went far. Despite the fun of the idea, its execution wasn't easy and could have turned into a nightmare, as Fernández explained. "At that time, we were like the Rolling Stones or the Beatles. We were three elephants in a china shop. I was under a lot of pressure. I had to go out and sing when I wasn't a singer," he noted.
A stress that left physical scars on him at the time: "I'm now over 70 kilos, and at that time I weighed 55 kilos. All the dancers helped me a lot. When I was exhausted, they always showed up saying I had to eat. The dancers saved my life."
Furthermore, Eva Cebrián, director of programs at RTVE from 2007 to 2010, recalled that to give the performance more substance, Shakira's choreographer, Maite Marcos, was hired. "I thought it was important to professionalize Rodolfo's performance as much as possible. The first day of rehearsal was in a room and it was traumatic for Maite," she asserted.
