Six journalists confirmed dead after attack on an Al Jazeera team in Gaza, according to authorities in the Palestinian enclave.
The Gaza government reported that the number of journalists killed in an Israeli precision strike on Sunday night has risen to six. The incident occurred when a projectile hit their tent, located next to Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. Among the victims was Mohamed Al Khalidi, a reporter for the Palestinian media outlet Sahat.
According to a statement, six journalists were killed: Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al Sharif and Mohamed Qraiqea; photojournalists Ibrahim Zaher and Moamen Aliwa; photojournalist assistant Mohamed Nofal; and Al Khalidi himself.

In its statement, the Gaza government condemns Israel's "systematic targeted attack and assassination" of Palestinian journalists and calls on international journalist federations and news organizations around the world to do the same.
It also calls on the international community to prosecute Israel in international courts and to "exert serious and effective pressure to stop the crime of genocide."
With these six journalists, the Gaza government's tally of journalists killed by the Israeli offensive rises to 238, a list that includes journalists, influencers, and other content creators.
On July 24, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) expressed concern for Al Sharif's safety and denounced that he was "the target of an Israeli military smear campaign" that it considered "a precursor to his assassination."

Around that time, Israeli military Arabic spokesman Avichay Adraee intensified his online attacks on al-Sharif, accusing him without evidence of being a Hamas member after the journalist cried on live television while reporting on the famine in Gaza.
The Israeli military admitted killing the journalists in a precision strike and asserted that Al-Sharif was linked to Hamas, presenting as evidence two documents whose origins it did not specify and which cannot be verified.
