The European Prosecutor's Office has summoned Barrabés for investigation for irregularities in contracts endorsed by Begoña Gómez.

The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) has agreed to summon businessman Juan Carlos Barrabés and a Red.es official for alleged irregularities in contracts funded with European funds, which were endorsed by letter by the wife of the Prime Minister, Begoña Gómez , according to 'El Confidencial' and sources of the investigation confirmed to Europa Press.
This decision comes a year after the European Public Prosecutor's Office took on the investigation into the joint venture, in which a Barrabés company participated and which allegedly obtained public contracts from Red.es financed with European funds.
The European body took over the case after the head of the Investigative Court Number 41 of Madrid, Judge Juan Carlos Peinado informed him that Innova Next SLU (individually or forming a UTE with third-party companies) was "the company in which the awarding of public contracts within the Barrabés Group has been most concentrated."
"Specifically, a total of 28 contracts for a combined amount of €22,857,805.49, representing 91.7% of the total awarded," the Civil Guard detailed in a report submitted to Judge Peinado. The European body retained only the contracts that were paid for with Next Generation funds.
The European Public Prosecutor's Office, as part of its investigation, requested from Red.es the complete files on the three contracts in question, relating to employment training services in the digital economy—two of them for young people and one for unemployed people.
Furthermore, he announced that, "once the above projects have been identified," he should send a letter to the European Social Fund Administration Unit (UAFSE) requesting information on whether the contracts "had been financed with European funds and, if so, whether they have been certified."
It should be remembered that, in parallel, Judge Peinado has continued to investigate the contracts relating to Barrabés that were not funded with European funds.
