The government has filed a request with the Jumilla City Council (Murcia) to annul the agreement on the use of municipal sports facilities , which prohibits their use for religious events in the town , because it believes it violates religious freedom.
According to government sources, the request, submitted by the government delegate and coordinated with the Ministries of Justice and Territorial Policy, maintains that regulations permit the use of the sports center for sociocultural activities, and therefore believes that "the objective reasons given are unfounded."
For the Executive, "celebrations that have been taking place for years are being arbitrarily restricted," violating the fundamental right to religious freedom.
